NRC Presents the Nigerian Image Awards, an unforgettable night honoring the achievements of extraordinary people of Nigerian descent in music, arts, service, education and other walks of life.  This  the Nigerian Image Awards, which will take place on Saturday July 7, 2012 the Baltimore Marriott Hung Valley Inn and recognizes the contributions and exceptional service to the Nigerian Culture and Community.


Ice Prince


Iceprince (Panshak Zamani) was born to Mr. and Mrs.Nasara Zamani in Minna, Niger State and moved to Jos two years later. He started performance and rap while in secondary school, (Science Tutorial College, Jos).In 2002, he got together with a couple of his friends and formed a group called the Ecomog Squad. They had a few performances as a group and split a year later.

In 2004, he hooked up with M.I, Jesse Jagz, Ruby, Lindsey, Eve, Taz and together they became what is now ‘Loopy’. His influences are Notorious B.I.G, Rakim, Jay-Z, Common, Talib Kweli, Kanye West, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Lauryn Hill. M.I and Jesse Jagz who are his close friends as well have also influenced his music. In 2004, ‘Extraordinary’ his debut single hit the waves in Jos and it gradually made him known in and around Jos city.

His  single ‘OLEKU’ has been on radio station charts in Abuja Lagos and nigeria. It has been on.Beat Fm, Rhythm Fm Top 7 chart, notjustok hype, Unilag Fm, Zain Central Station, Inspiration Fm; Top Fm’s Top of the Morning, Cosmo Fm Top Hits, Africa Connect Chat Show, Kiss Top 20 Africa and has also been No.1 on Cool Fm, Vision Fm in Abuja.Also it has been the No.1 song of last year (2010) in most radio and Tv stations around the country,also his recent follow up single.  “SUPERSTAR”has been NO 1 on radio  charts round the country

He has had collaborations with M.I, Jesse Jagz,Dekunle Fuji,Rugged man,kennis st brown(KSB) , Banky W,Kel,Gino,Terry Tha Rapman,Sauce Kid,Djinee,da suspect,YQ,El Dee,Naeto C, Mo Cheddah,Whiz Kid d-black(ghana) amongst others. He contested with artistes like Bez, Mocheddah, Blaise, Jimmy Flames at the Hennessy Artistry that held in Lagos all through September 2009 and was declared winner of the Hennessy Artistry 2009.

Mike Okri

Mike Okri is a renowned Nigerian Artist of international acclaim. When this versatile, no-fuss-no-fad crooner made his chart buster debut titled “CONCERT FEVER”, it was a great phenomenon that ushered spice and change into the Nigerian Music Industry.

This Singer, Songwriter, Producer, Novelist, Humanitarian was first ever to be signed to CBS Records (Nigeria) (now Sony Music). Sony Music in collaboration with Benson & Hedges Music (now defunct) released his second award winning album “RHUMBA DANCE’’ in the early nineties. With a third  mind-blowing album, “CRACKS” two years later, this velvet voice crooner made his mark as one of Africa’s brightest Stars.

He’s won for himself over the years Awards in different categories and at different times in both the Nigerian Music Awards (NMA) and Fame Music Awards (FMA) respectively, including the Pan-African Music Awards in Ghana.

Mike Okri is living presently in California, the United States of America, about to begin a new phase in his musical career. Although he’s recorded a self-titled album “RHYTHMYSTICALS” with Global Village Records, a Los Angeles based Independent Record Label, he’s now presently working on his new gospel album.

“AFRO-MYSTIC-SOUL” is Mike Okri’s new creative rebirth and with it he is ready to conquer the world for in ways that are musically spiritual, compelling and sweet.


The daughter of an American father and a Nigerian mother, singer/ songwriter Janelia was born in Houston and raised in Nigeria. Janelia brings a unique multicultural vibe to soul music, something she playfully calls “JaneliaSoul”. She is bilingual and enjoys singing in both English and Yoruba. Her passion for music began in elementary school when she held several lead roles in her school’s musical productions. Her professional career began when she moved to the United States. She toured as a back up singer with several regional and national acts and then ventured into being the lead singer of her own band.

Janelia lives in Baltimore, MD and continues to make a name for herself in the local, American, Nigerian, and global music scenes. She performs in clubs, festivals, and other venues in the Maryland and Washington, DC area. In late 2010, she independently released a single “Love Song in Yoruba”. It is currently being broadcasted on all the major radio stations in Nigeria. For several weeks, the music video was ranked in the top ten video countdowns on some of Nigeria’s prominent music stations. It was number 4 on Sound City and number 9 on Africa Independent Television (AIT). In addition, “Love Song in Yoruba” is scheduled to air on BET International and is being transmitted in over 35 countries in Africa, Europe & the Middle East. It has also recently been selected to air in the United Sates on Centric cable Television, the sister station to BET.

Janelia is a multifaceted artist who is able to move fluidly between genres. “Love Song in Yoruba” has the contemporary sound of world music also known worldwide as Afro-pop or Afro-pean. “This is the Life” and “All of My Heart” has a Neo-Soul and Adult Contemporary sound. As an artist, Janelia has crossover appeal. She has secured fans for herself not only in the United States and Nigeria but throughout the globe, this is evident through her current YouTube hits and comments.

Some of Janelia’s recent performances include the Face List Awards in New York. During this performance, she paid tribute to honoree, Angelique Kidjo, with a soulful acoustic version of “Agolo”. She was also a headliner at Recher Theater in Towson, MD. Janelia has also been the feature opening act for many national acts of various genres. Her past performances include: Artscape and the Detroit World Music Festival. Janelia also performed Africa Malaria Day Benefit Concert in Washington, DC where she helped raise funds and awareness for Malaria treatment and prevention.

Janelia is currently working on a new album which is being recorded with all live instruments. In this album, she is expanding her sound as she further explores Neo-Soul & Adult Contemporary. Her musical influences are as diverse as she is; they include Sade, Barbara Streisand, Bob Marley and Fela Kuti.

Femi the Entertainer

Femi the Entertainer is an american based Nigerian comic/mc. He started to ply his trade in the church where he had gotten a lot of his ideas from and has from then gone on to perform for more diverse audiences. His humor comes from a lot of his experiences in life from church, and the peculiarity of a Nigerian and American upbringing. He has been recently known for his Obama impressions and other celebrities at shows, weddings and parties. He is also the creator of a sketch comedy series called ” That Krazy African” on Youtube. Femi’s greatest influences have come from the likes of Russel Peters, Seyi Brown and Mad TV’s Michael Keegan Key. Femi currently tours doing shows, mceeing and hosting events{weddings, parties} all across the country.
